Why does Open Dental show as Degraded?
One of the required synced areas has an unresolved failure. Sera keeps working, honestly.
Quick answer
Degraded means at least one required area — appointments, patients, providers or operatories — has an unresolved sync failure. Sera keeps answering calls, but it will not claim a change was saved in Open Dental when it was not.
Steps
- Open Open Dental and re-run the connection test to rule out credentials.
- Give automatic retries time to run — temporary vendor errors clear themselves.
- Check Requests for anything Sera held while the connection was unhealthy.
- If it does not clear, contact Sera Support with your practice name and which area is failing.
What each status means
- not connected — no Open Dental credentials in use (normal for Standalone).
- importing — credentials work, but the first full import has not finished.
- connected — every required area has synced successfully with no unresolved failure.
- degraded — a required area has an unresolved failure.
